“The Broken Hearts (Nisha and Amber) lead a new wave of female DJ groups who look and sound great” - Elle

Well-known for their distinctive brand of spectacular DJing, the Broken Hearts have played some of the most exclusive venues in London, as well as shows throughout New York, Paris, Moscow and Milan. Their eclectic sets have been described by The Independent as, "a Hollywood musical on hallucinogenics."

The Broken Hearts have presented shows on Diesel Radio and Q Radio, where their show was described by Lauren Laverne as “a 60-minute shimmy across a different musical landscape every week". Guests have included legendary shoe designer Terry de Havilland, London club queen Jodie Harsh and 80s pop icon Jason Donovan.

Due to their unique style the Broken Hearts were asked to collaborate with London boutique Beyond the Valley to design a capsule collection for their A/W 09-10 range. The limited edition collection draws on costumes from the golden age of the circus sideshow, with a sinister edge inspired by Tod Browning’s 1932 film Freaks. It will be available at Beyond the Valley, www.farfetch.com and www.asos.com from September, and the Broken Hearts are currently working on their S/S 2010 collection.

They have collaborated with the musician Whitey on an album of original recordings. Their debut single Black Cat/Blanco, described by Nylon magazine as “sinuously sinister,” was released on Mute Irregulars imprint and has been used by PPQ to close their catwalk shows. The hotly anticipated follow-up, Count Those Freaks! will be out soon.

The Broken Hearts researched and presented a documentary, Welcome to the Big Top, an exploration of the cultural motif of the circus in contemporary culture, which premiered at the East End Film Festival in April.

They have been featured throughout the style and fashion press, including British Vogue, i-D, and Grazia. They were featured at number 16 in The Observer ‘Cool List’ and at number 6 in Elle magazine's ‘Hot 20’ for 2009. They have also appeared as fashion and music commentators on shows such as T4's Frock Me and 4Music's Frockstars.

"Turntable Goddesses Amber and Nisha are guaranteed to pull out a plethora of delights from both the DJ crate and the dressing-up box" - Time Out

“This act is full of the style and panache that will leave onlookers gawping enviously from the sidelines” Artrocker
